Gear Motions Inc. and Zaepfel Development Company together held a Groundbreaking Ceremony on the site of the new Gear Motions Buffalo Operations in the Town of Tonawanda on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Construction of the 56,000 square foot world-class gear manufacturing facility is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Dean Burrows, President and CEO of Gear Motions. Also participating in the ceremony were Sam Haines, Chairman of Gear Motions, Paul Andruszko, Vice President of Buffalo Operations, Paul Sharek, Operations Manager, and Dan Bartelli, Director of Operations, Syracuse Operations.
Zaepfel Development Company did a fantastic job hosting and coordinating the event; special thanks to Greg Zaepfel , Kathryn Bush, Tom Wnek and Jim Sherwin. The Gear Motions Team would also like to thank Joe Deck and Scott Mason from Hanna Commercial Realty and thanks to Insyte Consulting with Ben Rand, Dave Hannitz, Jim Frost and Scott Berry for their ongoing support.
Special guests included Assemblymember Bill Conrad, serving NYS 140th District, Joe Emminger, Supervisor of the Town of Tonawanda, and Shannon Patch, Tonawanda Town Councilmember. Also in attendance were Kim Davis from Invest Buffalo Niagara, Mary Grace Welch from National Grid, and representatives from State Senator Sean Ryan.
Finally, it was wonderful to have many Gear Motions Employee Owners from the Niagara, Oliver, and Nixon Gear Divisions in attendance to celebrate this momentous occasion. For many members of the team, it was the first time seeing the site of the new facility. Many remarked on the large size of the building, and their excitement of moving into a brand-new world-class facility.
