Construction is underway on the future home of Gear Motions Buffalo Operations. The brand-new facility at 75 Pirson Parkway in Tonawanda, NY will bring Gear Motions’ two Buffalo-area facilities, Niagara Gear and Oliver Gear, together under one roof, creating one world-class operation.

The existing facilities are both landlocked with no additional room to expand at their current locations. At 56,000 square feet, the consolidated facility won’t necessarily be larger, but it will be a more efficient use of space. Perhaps more importantly, the new location provides plenty of room to grow, with the option to remove an exterior wall for future expansion.

The move will also include new equipment updates and the establishment of continuous improvement processes such as improved part movement and flow from one workstation to another.

The project by Zaepfel Development Company is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Movement of equipment from the existing facilities is expected to take place in January and February and is being planned in a way to not affect customer demand.
