Happy Holidays from the Gear Motions team!
We wanted to take some time to reflect on 2021, look ahead to 2022, and show our appreciation for the people we are so grateful to work with every day.
While the past year has not always been easy or predictable, there have been plenty of bright spots and great progress made toward some of our goals.
Buffalo Operations
2021 brought in the official groundbreaking at the site of the new Gear Motions Buffalo Operations in Tonawanda, NY. This brand-new facility at will bring Gear Motions’ two Buffalo-area facilities together under one roof, creating one world-class operation. Completion was originally anticipated by the end of the year but delays in building materials have caused the expected completion date to be pushed back to the spring of 2022.
Looking ahead, 2022 will be even more exciting. We’ll see completion of the new facility, move-out of the two existing Buffalo area facilities and complete move-in to the new facility. This will include the installation of our third and final planned Reishauer gear grinding machine equipped with Felsomat automation.
These investments in Gear Motions’ future have been a long time in the making and there is a lot of excitement as we get close to seeing it all come together. The company plans to cap it all off with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the spring, with a rare opportunity to bring the entire team together, including from our Syracuse operations, all in one place at one time. There will be a lot to celebrate, and we are all looking forward to the big event!
Exciting Opportunities
In 2021 we also appreciated the opportunity to exhibit at the Motion + Power Technology Expo in St, Louis. It was great to be back in person making new connections and strengthening existing relationships. The gear industry is a wonderful and supportive group and we’re so grateful to be a part of it.
The team has also been making great progress with Kinatech, the exciting new non-backdriveable motion control system, which is entering a new phase of development and should be ready to integrate into our customers products very soon. There is a lot of interest in this groundbreaking technology, and we expect this product to gain even more momentum in 2022.
Our Employee Owners
We also must give a shout to all our employee owners who continue to give their all every day. We’re proud of all that we have been able to accomplish together and know there are even greater things to come thanks to the entire team.
Employee owners at each division are coming together as we head into the holiday season for the annual Holiday Food Drive in Buffalo and Giving Tree for Elmcrest Children’s Center in Syracuse. Also planned are some festive holiday celebrations through our employee committees in the coming weeks before heading into our annual Holiday Shutdown at the end of the year.
Thank you for joining us on this journey as we get ready to enjoy the last days of 2021 and look forward to great things to come in 2022. Happy Holidays!
